2018 FIFA World Cup Mascot to be chosen on 26 October

The official mascot for FIFA world cup 2018 is all set to be launched on 26th of October 2016 in Russia. In February 2016 it was confirmed that three mascots have been chosen to finalize one for football’s biggest event in 2018. But it wasn’t announced when would the local committee finalize the mascot.

In a short interview, world cup local organizing committee head and Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko mentioned that tiger, wolf and cat featuring three different mascots have been finalized for 2018 world cup and one will be confirmed on October 26.

“We have three finalists for world cup 2018 mascot after the voting, a wolf, a cat and a tiger. The final choice will be made on 26 October and public voting will be launched soon,” Mr. Vitaly Mutko told to a local correspondent.

Sports Mirchi understands that in all above 3 finalists, tiger mascot will be favorite to become official mascot for 2018 football world cup. The fact is tigers are considered as famous animals in the country after bear. Hence as per our reports, tiger is ahead in the race for world cup mascot meanwhile wolf stands second to the list.

The 21st edition of fifa world cup is scheduled to play in Russia from 14 June to 15 July. 32 national football teams will be competing in the tournament.
