International Cricket Council have declared that Umpire Decision Review System (DRS) will be used across all the international cricket matches to be played in the future. Hence in upcoming major ICC events like Champions Trophy and World T20 to have DRS technology for the betterment of sport.
ICC took this important decision in the latest annual meeting with respective boards in Dubai from 2 to 4 February.
“The Chief Executives’ Committee agreed to the principle of a consistent use of DRS technology across all international cricket. A full implementation plan will be considered by the ICC Cricket Committee in May before approval in June 2017 for roll-out from October 2017”, ICC said in a statement.
All ICC Women’s World Cup matches that will be televised live on TV, will be having DRS technology to make umpiring decisions healthy for the game. Also all ICC World Twenty20 games that will be broadcast live on television, will have Decision Review System technology.
Team will get one review per match. If there is any change made in the DRS technology, it will be checked and approved by MIT.
