Mediaset to broadcast 2018 FIFA World Cup in Spain

Mediaset España Comunicación, S.A. has acquired the media rights to telecast FIFA world cup 2018 in Spain. The company has signed deal with FIFA to broadcast all 64 matches of 2018 world cup.

Company’s free to air (FTA) channels Telecinco and Cuatro to show live world cup matches during the tournament starting from 14 June in Moscow while finishing on 15 July in Luzhniki Stadium.

“Once again securing one of the most coveted content worldwide is the best news we could give to our audience. It’s a great opportunity to create a unique multi-platform event,” said Manuel Villanueva, general manager of content at Mediaset.

National team Spain is placed in the Group B where they’ll meet Portugal, Morocco and Iran to make it into the knockout stage.

Mediaset covered 2010 and 2014 FIFA world cups and 2009 and 2013 Confederations Cup tournaments. The broadcaster also showcase 2012 and 2016 European Championships.
