International Cricket Council’s 11th edition has reached to the semi-final stage and teams are read to get closer to become world cricket champions. The semifinal matches of 2015 world cup are scheduled to be played on 24 and 26 March in New Zealand and Australia. The first semi-final game will be played at Eden Park in Auckland whereas second semifinal scheduled for Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Road to semi-finals from QFs
The opening knockout match of tournament was played between 2011 cricket world cup finalist Sri Lanka and South Africa at SCG, Sydney. In this first quarter-final match South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets to get into semi-finals. Proteas to play first semifinal of 2015 ICC world cup on 24 March against winner of fourth quarter-final between New Zealand and West Indies.
The 2nd quarterfinal match was played between defending champions India and first world cup quarter-final playing Bangladesh. Melbourne Cricket Ground hosted this knockout match on 19 March. Indian team defeated Bangladesh by 109 runs to qualify for semi-final. India will play second semifinal of 2015 world cup on 26 March against winner of third quarterfinal game between Pakistan and Australia.
In the third quarter-final match Australia defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets to reserve berth in the semi-final. Adelaide Oval hosted this match and Australia succeed to win this knockout game to face India in the semifinal on 26 March.
In the final quarter-final match home team New Zealand beat West Indies 143 runs to confirm semi-final berth against South Africa. The fourth quarterfinal match was played at Wellington on 21 March and Kiwi team won it successfully.
