Bayern Munich has defeated Tigres UANL in the final match of 2021 FIFA Club World Cup played in Qatar. With 1-0 victory over Mexican club, German giants have become second team to claim 6 titles in single season. Barcelona was the first team to win six trophies in one season during their triumph in 2009.
Munich won Bundesliga, German Cup, Champions League, German Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup trophies. Education City stadium was hosting the club world cup finale on Thursday night with 12,000 spectators in the ground. Benjamin Pavard was the star of night as he converted a VAR review in 59th minute to give champions 1-0 lead.
Robert Lewandowski was declared tournament’s best player by the Technical Study Group (TSG). He contributed in final match’s only goal as well as due to his header Pavard could score the goal.
“We were determined to win. At half-time I said that we need to get crosses into the box, and that’s how the goal arrived. It’s fantastic,” Lewandowski said after winning the championship.
