The South American football governing body CONMEBOL has announced the Brazil will be hosting the 47th edition of Copa America championship after Argentina and Colombia were snubbed as the hosts. Brasil hosted last edition of Copa America that was played in 2019 and hosts won it defeating Peru in final.
“The CONMEBOL @CopaAmerica 2021 will be played in Brazil! Tournament start and end dates are confirmed. The venues and the fixture will be informed by CONMEBOL in the next few hours. The oldest national team tournament in the world will make the whole continent vibrate!,” CONMEBOL tweeted.
CONMEBOL announced the tournament will go on the dates as scheduled and fixtures and venues will be announced in short time. A total of 10 teams will be contesting the event as Australia and Qatar quit themselves from the participation amid World Cup Qualifiers 2022.
