Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is ruled out from cricket world cup 2019 for at least three week with injury in his left thumb. Shikhar’s left thumb was hit hard during the match against Australia in which he scored hundred to guide India posted 352 runs in 50 overs against world champions.
Shikhar Dhawan was hit hard with a raising delivery from Nathan Coulter Nile in his marathon 117 innings in 109 balls. His left hand thumb got swallow though he didn’t return to pavilion and played till he wasn’t dismissed. After the match, he went through inspection and various scans to determine about his injury and finally he was told not to play for next three weeks.
BCCI and team management will give report on this later today. However if Dhawan didn’t get chance to play in world cup anymore, BCCI is expected to announce his replacement in the side and it is expected that either Rishabh Pant or Kedar Jadhav will take his place in the squad.
India to play their next matches against New Zealand on 13 June and Pakistan on 16th.
