Ecuadorean Football Federation (EFF) has appointed former Bolivia footballer Gustavo Quinteros as the coach for upcoming 2015 Copa America tournament and 2018 world cup qualifying.
EFF president Luis Chiriboga said, “The national team has the coach it wanted for the process to Russia 2018, a winning coach with all the sides where he has been.”
Gustavo Quinteros believes that it’s ideal time to take the position of Ecuador football team coach. Copa America is near and he has to prepare team for upcoming major events.
Gustavo said, “This has come to me at the best moment in my career because you acquire experience while making your way in this profession. I’m very keen and full of dreams and let’s hope we can build a team that plays good football and gives the fans pleasure. It’s an ideal time to take charge of the Ecuador team.”
Sixto Vizuete was the interim coach of Ecuador in 2014 FIFA world cup at Brazil and team was failed to advance after group stage. Quinteros will take charge from March. Ecuador is in group A of Copa America in which they’ll face hosts Chile, Mexico and Bolivia to advance in next stage. Ecuador will play opening match of Copa America 2015 against Chile on 11 June at Estadio Nacional in Santiago.
