Top 40 Asian football teams have been drawn in 8 groups of the second round in FIFA world cup 2022 qualifying stage. The preliminary draw took place in Kuala Lumpur. Round-2 matches are scheduled to play between 5 September 2019 and 9 June 2020.
Winners of all 8 groups and best 4 runner-up teams from these pools, will qualify for the third round of Asian world cup qualifiers for 2022 Qatar. There total 12 teams will be appearing in the round-3 meanwhile these teams will also qualify for 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
