The first semi-final clash of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has been scheduled to take place between India and New Zealand. Indian team is the champion of two world cups in 1983 and 2011 meanwhile New Zealand were runners-up in 2015 edition.
Winner of this semifinal will go through to the final of championship and will be facing either Australia or England; winner of 2nd semifinal match that is scheduled for 11th July. Both these teams have faced off each other on 8 occasions in cricket world cup and Blackcaps have defeated Men In Blue 4 times meanwhile three-time India beat New Zealand.
One match abandoned with a ball and that came this year. The last time India and New Zealand met in a ICC World Cup match was in 2003 tournament in South Africa where India defeated Kiwis by 7 wickets. So it’s going to be an interesting battle to watch out.
New Zealand lost three successive last matches in the tournament and this is the worry point for them. Team is highly relying on their skipper who is the leading run scorer for them in the world cup. This is hurting them as well. Ross Taylor is another experienced batsmen to whom Blackcaps would eye to score against Men In Blue.
Apart these two, New Zealand’s batting is not giving better results to them. Bowling has been fantastic with Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Ferguson and Santner. But if NZ really wants to beat inform India, they must play their ‘A’ game.
On the other side, India is having a good time at the 2019 world cup. They only lost one game in the competition and that was against hosts England. Apart from that match, players have done great job. Rohit Sharma is the leading run scorer of the championship and he’ll be the key batsman for team along with skipper Kohli, Rahul and Pandya. These are inform batsmen and team will rely a lot on this players.
Rohit Sharma has scored five hundreds in the world cup which a record and if he scores another ton, it will be a huge advantage for India and that will be difficult for Blackcaps to stop Indian side from winning the game. So Kiwis must attack him and get his crucial wicket.
Table toppers India are looking hot favorites against in the 1st semi-final of 2019 world cup and as per SportsMirchi predictions, India has got 65 percent winning chances over Blackcaps.
