India’s Predicted playing XI for first test against Windies in Rajkot

Indian cricket team will be playing Windies side in the first test match of 2-tests series starting from 4th of October in Rajkot. Taking a break from Asia Cup, skipper Virat Kohli set to lead national side and West Indies will be his first test ahead of the big upcoming Australian tour.

Omission of Shikhar Dhawan from the test squad, will make way for either Prithvi Shaw or Mayank Agarwal in the team and one of them will be seen debuting for national team on October 4 as the opening batsman. The second opener will definitely be centurion from England test and he is KL Rahul.

Team India Squad for 2 tests against West Indies in October 2018

As per Sportsmirchi probable India’s playing-11, KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw are the opening batsmen for Rajkot test match scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM local time. There is no doubt on the 3rd and 4th position in batting lineup as Pujara and Kohli to play at 3 and 4 respectively.

There can be talks over going with vice captain Ajinkya Rahane who sparkled in just one inning on England tour or go with young all-rounder Hanuma Vihari who did exceptionally well as a spin bowler and a handy lower-middle order batsman. However our pick is Rahane, batting at number 5.

Left-hand wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant set to bat at number six position in the test team for Men in Blue in white dress. He smashed brilliant hundred in the last test in England, hence it would be interesting to see how he bats in home conditions against an international side. His wicket-keeping abilities will also be under scanner on spin friendly tracks.

India test playing-11 team for West Indies series 2018

If we talk about bowling options, India has plenty in the bag though Ishant, Jasprit and Bhuvneshwar are not part of the roster. Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj are the fast bowlers in Indian side for two-tests and three of them would be seen playing as per our analysis.

Shami, Umesh and Siraj would be the front-line pace bowling option for captain Kohli while Jadeja and Ashwin to play as key spinners in the playing-11. If we sum-up the all above talks and make India’s predicted playing-XI for first test, you can check it out below.
