Most successful team of Vivo Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians have made the first successful transfer of upcoming IPL 2020 season as they have released Mayank Markande to acquire Sherfane Rutherford from Delhi Capitals. Four-time IPL winners believe that it would be an ideal choice for them to get an all-rounder for next edition of premium t20 league.
“We wish Mayank the very best for his future. He is a brilliant talent and we were fortunate to have spotted and nurtured him early. It is a difficult decision for us, but we are releasing him for better cricketing prospects and know that he is on the cusp of emerging as yet another shining star of Indian cricket. He will always be a part of the Mumbai Indians family,” Akash quoted as saying by a release from Mumbai Indians.
Sherfane Rutherford is the latest West Indies edition to Mumbai Indians squad as the franchise is always keen to have young Caribbean players in their roster. Kieron Pollard and Alzarri Joseph are the notable names in the list. Team owner Akash Ambani believes that Rutherford would be an impressive choice for them in the next IPL season.
“I am excited to welcome the talented Sherfane into our family. He has impressed us with his all-round skills and match-winning attitude. His exploits across the world at such an early stage of his career have been impressive and we believe he finds his home at MI,” he added.
Mumbai Indians will be title defending champions in the 2020 Indian Premier League as they claimed 2019 trophy defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final.
