Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith asked KXIP to bat on this Sharjah stadium having small boundaries with excellent batting surface to bat on. Kings XI Punjab had terrible opening partnership as captain KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal took team’s total past 100 in 9 overs.

Mayank Agarwal scored second ton of the 13th Indian Premier League. KL rahul also scored fifty in the match. With such batting performances, KXIP put 223 runs on the board to chase for RR.

Rajasthan Royals needed some top class knocks from the top and it didn’t happen at the beginning as Jos Buttler was dismissed too early. However after that Sanju Samson and Steve Smith took responsibility and started to hit the ball all over the park. Smith reached to his second fifty of the season and was dismissed as soon as he scored 50.

Royals were matching the run rate with required rate until Smith was dismissed in the 9th over. After that Rahul Tewatia joined Samson in the middle who was striking hard. Sanju made 85 run in 42 balls before getting dismissed by Mohammad Shami.

Interestingly Tewatia was wasting the balls as he couldn’t manage to hit the boundaries initially in his innings. At one stage he was batting at 14 runs in 21 balls. Then he joined the party and smashed 5 sixes in an over of Cottrell to low down the run rate and made easy equation for RR to win the game.

Jofra Archer hit 2 sixes in Shami’s 19th over of the match to give relief.
