Czech professional tennis player Karolina Muchova storm into her career’s first grand semifinal at Australian Open 2021 as she defeated number one seed Ashleigh Barty after losing first set comprehensively. Barty won the first set 6-1 and looking in great touch to win the next set as well.
But Karolina had different plans and Barty didn’t look as comfortable as she was in the first set. Hence Muchova won next two sets 6-3, 6-2 to walk in the final four of women’s singles event at Australian Open.
“I was a bit lost [gestures to head] on the court and my head was spinning so I took a break. It was more they just checked my pressure because I was a bit lost. I was spinning. So they cooled me down a bit with ice and it helped me,” Karolina Muchova said after the match.
“I start to feeling a bit lost by the end of the first set, she played almost like no mistakes, it was very tough and I was a bit lost on the court and my head was spinning so I took a break. It helped me. I tried to get back, played a bit faster rallies so we don’t play the long ones as in the first set and it worked well.”
Karolina Muchova will be playing either Jennifer Brady and unseeded Jessica Pegula in the semifinal.
