Head to Head
Rafael Nadal 23:19 Novak Djokovic
Nadal 14:4 Djokovic (Clay Courts)
It is going to be the tough challenge for world no. 1 Djokovic as on clay court last year at French Open – Roland Garros, Nadal beat him by 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 in the final match to claim title. Both players met 18 times on a clay surface and Spanish star Rafael Nadal dominated the result as he won 14 games out of those 18 against world champion Djokovic.
So it is going to be a big match today in Monte Carlo Masters 2015. In the quarter-final match Nadal defeated David Ferrer 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to get into the semis of tournament. After entering into semi-final Rafael said, “I think I played at the highest level [in a] long time, for a long time; three hours almost. The way I played the third [set] after losing [a] disappointing second [set], it was a great third set in terms of tennis, in terms of physical performance, in terms of mentality.”
“Every day is a different day.Every day is a chance for me to improve, to be more confident, to find the feelings I need to find to play my best game.I think this tournament has been the best tournament since the beginning for me in terms of concentration, in terms of nerves; general nerves. I didn’t play with the nerves that I was playing with in the previous tournaments. I feel, in the important points, I have been able to play the way that I wanted to play,” Nadal added.
So Rafael Nadal believes that everyday is new and fresh day. The guy who plays well on the day, will win the match which is true. On the other hand Novak Djokovic beat Marin Cilic in the quarter-final of Monte Carlo Open 2015 to set up semi-final against Rafael Nadal.
Novak Djokovic said, “The first set went completely my way.I knew he was going to start to change some things in his game so he could start to play a little bit better. But I made a crucial break at the beginning of the second. The first eight games were really fantastic. I tried to keep it up, [but] I did drop in the concentration a little bit.”
The men’s world tennis champion also excepts that it is the biggest challenge for him on the clay court to face Rafael Nadal. He said, “It’s probably the biggest clay court challenge you can have, playing against Nadal… on this surface, this tournament in particular.”
Past record clearly indicates Rafael Nadal is expected to win and as per Sports Mirchi he’ll be favorite to win as well. He has 55 percent chances over Djokovic.
