Ravi Kumar, Apurvi Chandela shoot India’s 1st medal at 2018 Asian Games

India gets first medal of Asian Games 2018 as shooting champs Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar bags bronze medal for nation in rifle mixed team shooting event. Both players were looking to attain the second position till 42 shots but at the end of 48-shot final, Chinese team came from behind to bag silver crown.

China’s mixed shooting pair Ruozhu Zhao and Haoran Yang ended with a score of 492.5 to grab silver medal for country meanwhile Chinese Taipei’s Yingshin Lin and Shaochuan Lu attained the top slot and wins the gold medal by scoring 494.1.

This was first ever medal for Apurvi Chandela at Asiads. Before that she won gold medal at 2014 Commonwealth Games and she’s won world cup many times. She’ll be doing better preparation for her next event which is 10m air rifle.

In other sporting events, Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar got set back on the opening day as he lost in the first round. Meanwhile Bajrang Punia through to semis after 12-0 win the quarterfinal round.
