First cricket world cup playing Rohit Sharma has hit the century in quarter-final match against Bangladesh at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Rohit completed his maiden world cup hundred in 108 balls with the help of 10 fours and one six. Taskin Ahmed dismissed Rohit in the 44th over when he was batting on 137 in 126 balls. He smashed 3 sixes and 14 boundaries.
Rohit Sharma built a partnership of 122 runs with Suresh Raina for fourth wicket. Raina came to bat when Indian team was struggling at 115/3 in 28 overs. Runs were not coming in quick session which was required in prospects of knockout stage. Suresh and Rohit understood the situation and both players started to re-built the innings and took team’s total past 200 in 40th over.
Both Raina and Rohit played aggressive cricket in power play overs and scored 50 runs in 5 overs. Suresh Raina made 65 in 57 balls before getting dismissed by Captain Mortaza. Rohit’s hundred helped Indian team to cross 300 run land mark. India made 302 in 50 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.
