Maria Sharapova lost second set in the win against number 5 seed Caroline Wozniacki but she came back well in the third set and win it. Sharapova registers her sixth win over Wozniacki by 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the quarter-final and she’ll face either Svetlana Kuznetsova or Lucie Safarova in the semi-final. Current world no. 3 Sharapova may move up to rank 2 in the WTA rankings if she reaches to final.

In a news press conference after the match Sharapova said, “I had a good start but my level obviously dropped and I became much more inconsistent and passive. So I think that a little bit of a switch (helped) and just (being) a little bit more aggressive and going a little bit for my shots, moving forward. It was more of a mental change as well. Just looking for the next shot and creating a few extra steps in my footwork.
