South Africa crunched SL to reach semi-final of 2015 world cup

South Africa cricket Team played some great cricket tonight to register their berth in 2015 ICC world cup semi-final. Proteas defeated Sri lanka by 9 wickets with 192 balls remaining to qualify for semifinal match which is scheduled to play on 24 March. SA spinner Imran Tahir was awarded player of the match for his 4 wickets in Sri-Lankan innings.

This was the first quarter-final of world cup 2015 played at Sydney Cricket Ground. Everyone was expecting a good match between two inform teams in cricket’s mega event this year. But nothing went in Sri-Lanka’s favor except toss. Winning toss SL chose to bat and all batsmen surrendered against Proteas bowling, especially spinners. Spinners Tahir and JP Duminy took 7 wickets all together in which JP Duminy’s hat-trick was highlight.

Proteas bowling all-out Sri Lanka in just 38th over after scoring small total of 133 runs in a big game. Last world cup playing Jayawardene and Sangakkara were failed today completely. Mahela just scored 4 runs whereas Sangakkara made 45 in 95 balls. He was out-dated today. Thirimmane also made 41 and rest batsmen totally flopped.

South Africa chased 134 runs target in just 18 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Hashim Amla was the only batsman who was dismissed and Malinga took that wicket in 7th over. Out of form Proteas opener Quinton de Kock got form in this small run chase and he made unbeaten 78 in 57 balls. Winning this quarter-final South Africa has qualified for the semi-final and they’ll face either New Zealand or West Indies.
