BCCI has now appointed an advisory committee, i.e a advisory panel which will comprise of some of the past legends of Indian cricket. The list includes Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. However, the so called ‘ Wall’ of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid misses out again.
This panel will have a meeting with the BCCI President, Jagmohan Dalmiya and also with BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, before the Indian team leaves for Bangladesh tour. This meeting will be held in Kolkata.
BCCI President Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya said, “I am happy to note that our eminent cricketers have come forward to lend their experience and insights as we work towards a common goal of taking Indian Cricket to greater heights. The coming generations are bound to benefit from the guidance that will be provided by these luminaries and will go a long way in strengthening our existing system.”
The tentative dates of the meeting is 4th or 5th June. The meeting will finalise about the steps to be taken on how to take Indian cricket forward. Also, it is very likely that BCCI will take opinions of these 3 on the appointment of the support staff for the Indian cricket team, which will be announced in the near future.
It is yet not clear if any of these 3 will travel to Bangladesh along with the team. However, this meeting will finalise out this.
For this meeting, only Sachin will have to travel to Kolkata. Both Ganguly and Laxman will already be there as Ganguly is the Secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal. VVS Laxman will be present there as he is a member of the CAB’s Vision 2020 project.
Talking to the media persons, Ganguly said that he is still not sure on what role he will play in the committee. He also added that he is not ven aware of the role of this advisory committee but showed his happiness over the fact that he has been clubbed alongside Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.
It is still not clear that on why Rahul Dravid is not a member of this panel, but many experts are assuming that it is the time factor which has caused Dravid. However, there is no official call on this still and fans are eager to know the reason.
BCCI has said that these legends will now have a say on the preparation of the team for any foreign tour.
