United Arab Emirates football team has secured third position in the 16th AFC Asian Cup as they defeated Iraq in today’s 3rd/4th place match played at Newcastle Stadium in Sydney. UAE scored 3 goals against Iraq’s 2 goals to win the match. Ahmed Khalil and Ali Mabkhout hit 2 and 1 goals respectively to confirm UAE’s victory.
The fight for 3rd place was not so easy and both sides played some good quality football to win the game. In the 16th minute of match Ahmed Khalil scored the goal for United Arab Emirates. UAE was leading the game by 1-0 but their lead wasn’t maintained for more and Iraq’s Waleed Salem hit the goal in 28th minute to score the level.
The scores were level and both sides were looking to take lead but couldn’t beat opponent’s defence. But just before the ending of first half, Amjad Kalaf scored the leading goal for Iraq in 42nd minute. Now Iraq was leading after the first half of match. In 2nd half UAE was looking to score the goal and they succeed in 6th minute of second half and 51th minute of game.
Ahmed Khalil scored the second goal of match to scores the level 2-2. Now both sides were looking to take lead and playing aggressive. Now it’s turn of top scorer in 2015 Asian Cup, Ali Mabhkout came into play and took the advantage of penalty. Mabhkout scored the fifth goal of tournament and strong his position to win Golden boot.

UAE was leading by 3-2 after the 57th minute of match and even after completion of second half. They maintained their lead and UAE won the game by 3-2 to secure third place in Australia Asian Cup 2015.
