Why Rohit Sharma should be appointed as India’s captain in limited overs

Undoubtedly, Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the side but as a skipper he’s failed. The decisions he took on the field and off-field, were criticized by experts and former cricketers. The major decisions like why Dhoni was hold down to the batting order against New Zealand when team was struggling at 24-4 in crucial semifinal clash.

Why four wicket-keepers were in the Indian world cup squad?

Apart from these issues, there were several other things like why Rayudu was not selected even though he was the core part of roster and played good cricket in ODIs at number 4 position. On crunch stages and matches, Kohli has not done well as the skipper. The final of 2017 Champions Trophy is an incredible example of his failure as the captain and batsman at the top stages of competition.

And if we talk about Kohli’s leadership in domestic t20 league IPL, we can see that he’s been leading Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2019 and still he hasn’t won single trophy. On the other side if we look at Rohit Sharma’s leadership, he’s proven his brilliance when he leads Mumbai Indians in IPL. In his captaincy, Mumbai Indians have won record 4 titles in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Opener Rohit is excellent with team management and his leadership skills are too good on the field and off the field as well. Next two years, we have two twenty20 world cups and then 2023 ODI world cup in India. To prepare team for next ICC world cup, BCCI must start proceedings today.

Rohit Sharma had brilliant ICC world cup as he smashed five hundreds to guide India towards semi-final and team topped points table. Meanwhile Kohli also got 5 fifties in the competition but he’s not capable enough to convert those into hundreds. Rohit and Kohli failed in the semi-final game against Blackcaps for which one of the best betting sites in India predicted victory for Men In Blue. India to host 2023 cricket world cup and it will be interesting to see how BCCI approach there with the team composition, management, coach and captaincy.
