Collingwood wants Scotland to win today’s match against England

Former England captain and batsman Paul Collingwood wants that Scotland team should register their first world cup victory in today’s match against England at Christchurch. Currently Collingwood is associated with Scotland team as assistant coach.

Paul Collingwood wants Scotland to win first world cup match against England.

Paul Collingwood said, “That’s going to be an amazing feeling if we can get that first-ever World Cup win under our belt, there’s no better time than against England. That would mean so much to Scottish cricket.”

Scotland haven’t won single game in cricket world cup though they have performed well in recent past. In the opening game against hosts New Zealand, Scotland tried hard to defend a small total of 147 and Kiwi team won it by only 3 wickets. So it’s a big mental win for Scotland against Blackcaps. In warm-up game against West Indies, Scotland made 310 runs in the chase of 313. So team is doing good and Paul also accepts it.

He said, “There’s real confidence and belief we can get a win.

The guys are getting closer and closer against international opposition. We fought all the way to the end against New Zealand and it was only a three-wicket margin and we should have won against the West Indies the week before so we’re getting there.”

“Hopefully the guys will be singing ‘Flower of Scotland’ in the dressing room come Monday,” Collingwood added.

2010 ICC world Twenty20 winning England’s Captain also believes that English side has great batting line-up so far they ever could have. Paul wants to see Alex Hales batting at the top of the order and Bopara in the middle order.

Collingwood added, “England has got the most powerful batting line-up we’ve ever had if we pick players like Ravi Bopara in the middle order and Alex Hales up the top.”
