“This would be a very open World Cup. Although England are clear favourites. England for two reasons. England have started playing well in limited overs and the tournament will be played on home. Naturally, they will have some home advantage. There are other strong teams who can cause upsets. They will be challenged by India and Australia. They are also good,” Ponting said in an interview to TOI.

England team is in remarkable form as they have recently defeated Pakistan in home series by 4-0 and are in the prime form in One-Day internationals under Eoin Morgan’s leadership.

Ricky Ponting emphasis that England would be challenged by India and Australia who are also in the race to go high at cwc19.

According Punter, Australia will be benefited with the return of David Warner and Steve Smith in the side. Warner was sensational in the recently concluded IPL 2019 in which he scored near 700 runs and won orange cap award.

“The inclusion of these two cricketers (Smith and Warner) would definitely enhance Australia’s performance in the World Cup. Australia did not do well while they were away from the team. I’m sure, not only me, but the whole team is really excited to have them back.”

The world cup 2019 is all set to roar from 30th of May when home team England to meet South Africa in the opening game of competition.
