HBL PSL 2016 All Teams Squad, players list

HBL Pakistan Super League is all set to roar in February 2016 when the first edition of tournament will be played in United Arab Emirates. There are 5 franchise based club teams will be taking participation in PSL 2016. Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators are the five teams in competition beginning from 4th February.

HBL PSL 2016 All Teams Squad, players list.

Around 308 cricketers went into the first PSL players draft which took place on 21 and 22 December 2015. These players were divided into 5 categories labeled as Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. All team owners and management had to choose 3-3 players each from first three categories whereas 5 players were chosen from Silver and two from Emerging category.

Peshawar Zalmi picked the first player of the draft and its non other Pakistan T20 cricket team captain Shahid Afridi. After this ARY Group Media’s team Karachi Kings signed Shoaib Malik for the first edition.

Australia’s Shane Watson became the first overseas players picked up in the draft and he went to Islamabad United. Now it’s turn for Quetta Gladiators and they chose sacked English cricketer Kevin Pietersen. In the last pick of Platinum category’s round-1 Lahore Qalandars picked West Indies’ powerful opener Chris Gayle.

Players were chosen in the pre-decided order for Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging categories. After completion of these categories, each team had to choose 4 more players as the supplementary players. The selected supplementary players will play in the league on demand basis. It means if the team requires them, they will tour with the team otherwise not.
