Bupa Support Staff physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said, “Mitchell had some right hamstring soreness during the Boxing Day Test and we have been closely monitoring his recovery since that match but feel he has not fully recovered.”

Johnson has been key player in Australian side since he has arrived in the national team. He’ll be the trump card for Aussies in world cup as well. So his fitness is the key for Australia and team staff doesn’t want to take chances with Johnson’s fitness. Eventually there is no need of taking chances when you have already won the series.

Australian coach Darren Lehmann said, “Mitchell is an important part of our plans for the remainder of our summer and we want him 100 per cent right so won’t be taking any risks with him. We believe it is best for Mitchell to take this opportunity to freshen up and get his body fully fit ahead of the tri-series.”

After the Test series against India, Australia to host tri-series against England with India to be the third team in series. So Mitchell Johnson’s fitness is important and rotating bowlers is also vital for Australia to keep players fresh for the ICC world cup.
