Justin Langer says Australia are favorites to win 2015 cricket world cup.

Justin Langer said, “On our home ground they’re always hard to beat. Australia are favourites. If you look at the team, it’s a daunting bowling attack. We’ve got a fantastic fast bowling attack.

Langer also mentioned in an interview on cricket.com.au that Steven Smith is in great touch these days and hopes he’ll continue it till the end of ICC world cup. Smith is playing much better than anybody else. Returning Michael Clarke and Shane Watson will make Australia team batting line-up more stronger.

“Steve Smith is playing a different game to everyone else at the moment. He’s in sublime form. Michael comes back, Shane Watson – we’ve got every base covered.”

Langer also believes that the only concern area for Australia is the spin department. Australia is not having such a wonderful and key spin bowler to take wickets in these Australia and New Zealand conditions. Langer backs Glenn Maxwell to bowl spin in the world cup and provide Australian team more flexibility.

He said, “The only area they might be a little nervous is in the spin department. If Glenn Maxwell can bowl well, with his dynamic batting, then Australia has a very, very strong team.”

Glenn Maxwell scored brilliant 95 runs in the Carlton mid ODI tri-series final and took four wickets too. So Langer has hopes from Maxwell.

Mitchell Marsh also impressed Langer with his batting capabilities. Langer said, “His maturity on and off the field over the last few years has been outstanding. He’s a huge talent. Very few players in the world can do what he does – bat anywhere in the order, and he can bowl and he’s improving in his fielding.”

Australia are the winners of cricket world cup in 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007 and they’ll be looking to claim 5th title as well. Australia to take on England in their opening match of world cup on 14 February, 2015.
