Netherlands beat Ireland to win 8th Women’s hockey world cup

Netherlands women’s hockey team have defeated Ireland women in the final of 2018 women’s hockey world cup to become world champions for 8th time. The Dutch team was phenomenal on the finals day as they thrashed Irish women by 8-0 in Vitality hockey world cup in London.

Kitty, Malou, Marloes, Kelly, Lidewij and Caia scored goals for Netherlands in HWC 2018 final. Title defenders scored first goal of match in the 7th minute and twice the lead in 19th minute. At the half time, Netherlands were leading by 4-0 and they’re in total control to register victory.

In the third quarterfinal, Netherlands women got scoring opportunities once again and they scored two more goals to outclass Irish women.

With this lose, Ireland’s fairy tale came to an end. However NED won the championship but Irish hockey women won the heart with their performances through the 2018 world cup.

Holland women earned Gold medal with this victory while Ireland was awarded silver medal. Before this game, third place match was played between Australia and Spain in which Spanish women beat Aussies to claim Bronze medal in the women’s hockey world championship 2018.
