Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award Winners List

The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award was instituted in 1991-92 and since then several sports personalities have been honored with this India’s prestigious award. RGKR is the highest honor award given by The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Winners of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna receive award from the honorable Indian president.

Winner receives a medal, a scroll of honour and a substantial cash amount as prize. Chess player Viswanathan Anand is the first sports person who received this Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1991-92. Saina Nehwal is the youngest sports person to win Khel Ratna Award at the age of 20. Only on two occasions in 1993-94 and 2013-14 when no sports person or team was awarded RGKR.
