Serena beat Sloane, Carla beat Heather in close contest at Indian Wells

Top seeded Serena Williams has defeated her home team-mate Sloane Stephens in the interesting round-4 match of BNP Paribas Open 2015. Serena beat Sloane by 6-7(3-7), 6-2, 6-2 to book berth in quarter-finals. Carla Suarez also got close contest against Heather Watson but she won by 7-6(7-5), 3-6, 6-1 to enter in the quarter-finals.

Serena Williams has reached to the quarter-final of Indian Wells Masters after 2001 as she didn’t participate in past 14 years of competition. After qualifying, she said in press conference that she was trying to be cool and calm to give her best in the tournament.

Williams said, “For me it’s all icing on the court.

  I think that’s why I was so calm after I lost the first set. It was like, ‘I don’t really need to win this title’. Just being out here is a real win for me and I was just calm through it.

World no one player also praised American Sloane after the match and said that she is improving day by day.

She said, “I told her good job and to keep up the good work. She’s doing really well. I know she had some tough results earlier.  It’s good to see her doing really well again. I have always thought Sloane can be really great. I think she’s on the right track.”

In another match, Carla Suarez Navarro defeated inform Heater Watson in an exciting thriller. Watson was coming in round of 16 match by defeating top 10 player Agnieszka Radwanska. Hence she was in good form and displaying great tennis skills. After winning Carla mentioned that she has been playing aggressive tennis these days and feeling great on court.

Suarez said, “I feel good on court. In the offseason we were practicing really hard, not only the tennis, but the physical also. I feel great on court. I play more aggressive than the other years. I enjoyed the way I played today and this year.”
