UEFA Euro 2020 to keep original brand identity despite event’s postponement

Union of European Football Associations has denied to change the brand identity of 16th UEFA European Championship and it will still be known as Euro 2020 even though tournament will be played in 2021 due to Coronavirus’ outbreak and event’s postponement.

UEFA executive committee took decision after reviewing the situation with tournament partners.

“Following the postponement of UEFA EURO 2020 to the summer of 2021, and after a thorough internal review as well as several discussions with partners, the UEFA Executive Committee has decided that the tournament will still be known as UEFA EURO 2020,” UEFA said in a statement.

Why UEFA didn’t change Euro 2020 identity?

There were speculations in the media that next year’s event will be known as Euro 2021 but UEFA made clear that no change will take place in brand identity. The fact is “lots of brand materials produced with Euro 2020 name”. Thus organization don’t want to waste things, hence they didn’t change the name of event.

UEFA Euro 2020 is expected to play from 11 June to 11 July 2021 as these are proposed dates for the event to take place.
