Ahead of 2015 world cup Zimbabwe cricket team has stunned Sri Lankan side as they have beaten SL by 7 wickets in a warm-up game today played at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln. Winning this match Zimbabwe has made in impact before beginning of ICC world cup and now teams in pool B will not take lightly Zimbabwe team. Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka in warm up 2015 world cup.

Winning toss Sri Lanka put 279 runs on the scoreboard which was quite enough in these Australia and New Zealand conditions. But Zimbabwean batsman Hamilton Masakadza had superb day and he scored unbeaten 117 runs in 119 balls to win this crucial game for Zimbabwe. Captain Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams contributed fifties in this morale boosting win for Zimbabwe.

Taylor made 63 before dismissed by Dilshan. Williams returned to pavilion after unbeaten 51. Sean Williams also took 3 wickets in Sri Lanka innings before he came to bat. Masakadza and Williams partnership set the tone for Zimbabwe to surprise Sri Lanka. For Sri Lanka Karunaratne and Mendis scored half-centuries to take team’s total up to 279/8 wickets in 50 overs.

Zimbabwe is in pool B in of 2015 world cup where they’ll face defending champions India, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland and United Arab Emirates. So all top teams of group like India, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies won’t take lightly to Zimbabwe.
