BCCI writes ICC to ban Pakistan for participating in 2019 cricket world cup

Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) is also set to write a letter to International Cricket Council (ICC) over Pakistan’s participation in upcoming 2019 world cup at England & Wales. India to take this step to put down Pakistan’s presence from world’s top events after Phulwama attacks to CRPF Jawan in Kashmir.

The COA has written a letter to ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar citing that either ban Pakistan cricket team from world cup or India will boycott in participating 12th cricket world cup edition kicking off from May 30. Regarding this a letter has been drafted from the office of BCCI CEO Rahul Johri.

“In the light of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir, the board is of the view that the ICC should ban Pakistan from participating,” quoted as saying by source in a report on TOI.

Indian cricket board will take final call on this today and will make issue publicly as well if things go further. However it is not easy for India to take this instance and asking ICC to ban a country from participating in the multi-nation event like world cup.

“BCCI can’t do anything like that. Asking a governing body to ban a country from participating in a global event is easier said than done. It’s a multi-nation tournament, not run at one member board’s personal discretion. They should try not to make a fool of themselves here,” a source elaborated.

India and Pakistan are due to play early round match in ICC World Cup 2019 on 16 June. It will be interesting to see if India boycott that fixture or not as there are lot of experts saying that Men In Blue should avoid playing Pakistan in world cup.
