Ivory Coast beat Algeria to qualify for 2015 AFCON Semi-final

Ivory Coast football team has beaten Algeria in the quarterfinal of Orange Africa Cup of Nations. They beat Algerian team by 3-1 to qualify for the semi-final match of AFCON 2015. Ivory Coast will now face DR Congo in the semifinal on 4 February to make it through final of Africa cup of nations.

Wilfried Bony was the star of match for Ivory Coast as he scored two goals in the match. Bony hit the first goal of match in 26th minute of quarterfinal ta lead team by 1-0. Ivory Coast maintained their lead after the completion of first half.

In the second half of match Algeria forwards were desperate to scores the level and El Arbi Hillel Soudani got success in 51st minute of match as he scored the first goal for Algeria in the match. Now both sides were at level 1-1. Ivory Coast and Algeria were playing aggressive football to take the lead in this crucial knockout game.

Bony got chance in 68th minute of match to hit the goal and he didn’t waste the opportunity. Ivory Coast was leading by 2-1 and it seemed they were qualifying to the semis but anything could be happened in the game as we all know how quickly things change in football. Algeria couldn’t score the goal in fact they conceded one more goal in the final moments of match.

Gervinho hit the goal in added time for Ivory Coast hence team won the match by 3-1 and set up Africa Cup of Nations 2015 semi-final against DR Congo.

After winning the quarterfinal Ivory Coast coach Herve Renard said, “I think we have beaten the best team in the tournament. We needed to be very well-organised and try to counter a team who are very strong individually.”

“In terms of football and ball control they were better but we countered with players like Max Gradel, Gervinho and Wilfried Bony,” he added.
