English captain Eoin Morgan chose to bowl first and India surprised visitors with opening pair as Rohit Sharma came to open with skipper Virat Kohli. Both are pillars and best batsmen in the lineup and these two go after England bowling, especially Rohit. Both added 60 runs in the powerplay to provide solid start to Indian side. Rohit was dismissed after soring brilliant fifty and then Suryakumar Yadav and Kohli played some high quality shots to take team’s total past 100 in 10 overs.

Virat Kohli made unbeaten 80 runs in 52 balls that helped India set 225 target for England to win this series decider.

Suryakumar made 32 while Hardik Pandya scored 39* runs in 17 balls. England didn’t have god start as Bhuvneshwar bowled Jason Roy in the first over without opening the account. Jos Buttler and Dawid Maland were looking so good in the middle and at one stage they’re keeping England in the match with maintaining run rate. But Kumar dismissed Buttler and then Shardul Thakur took Malan’s wicket helped India to go ahead in the game.

After that, no English batsman could score runs at the require pace and England lost the match by 36 runs. Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets in the match. Bhuvi was awarded player of the match while Kohli was named man of the series. Virat pointed out that his presence with Rohit at open would give team more options and healthy batting lineup. So he’ll continue open in t20s and IPL too to prepare for t20 world cup later this year.

“Yes. I am going to open in the IPL as well. Look, I’ve batted at different positions in the past, but I feel like we do have a very solid middle order now, and now it’s about your two best players getting the maximum number of balls in T20 cricket. So I would definitely like to partner Rohit at the top,” Kohli told Star Sports at the presentation after winning series 3-2.

“As I rightly said, if we have a partnership and we both are set, then you know that one of us is going to cause some serious damage. That’s exactly what we want. And the other guys feel much more confident when one of us is still in and set, they know that they can play more freely. It augurs well for the team and I would like this to continue, and hopefully continue that form through to the World Cup,” he added

Both England and India will now play three ODIs starting from 23rd March in Pune.
