When Lionel Messi Received Red Card

Lionel Messi received red card in debut match against Hungary on 17 August 2005.

But do you know once Lionel Messi received red card? Yes it’s true, Argentina’s super star Messi got red card when he played first match for country in 2005. Argentina was facing Hungary in an international friendly match on 17 August, 2005. In that match, 18-year old teenager Messi was given red card by the referee Markus Merk.

Messi played that match as a substitute player and he entered on the field in the 63rd minute of the game. Within 2 minutes of spare time, future football star was sent off the field as referee Merk claimed that he had allegedly elbowed Hungary defender Vilmos Vanczak who was tugging Messi’s shirt.
