90. Fastest ball
Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar bowled the fastest ball in the history of cricket. He bowled at the speed of 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) to England batsman Nick Knight in a world cup match of 2003 on 22 February. (Note: this fastest ball is measured by electronic equipment.)
89. Most wickets fall on other end
Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid saw 453 wickets fall on the other end throughout his career. Dravid is the only player who attains such record.
88. Longest cricket match in history
The longest cricket match was played in 1939 when South Africa was hosting England cricket team. It was untimed match played at Durban and it was played till 10 days. England was required another 42 runs to win the match but the match abandoned as English team had to return home by boat next day.
87. The first and Hundred number magic
The first official cricket match was played in 1877 between Australia and England in which Australia registered win by 45 runs. Just after 100 years both these team met in Centenary test in which history repeated and Australia beat England by 45 runs.
86. The “Patels” in cricket
Cricketers with surname “Patel” have been associated with at least 5 countries at international level. Patels played cricket for India, England, New Zealand, Canada, East Africa and Kenya.
85. Youngest player to win world cup
Piyush Chawla became the youngest cricketer to be a part of cricket world cup winning team when India defeated Sri Lanka 2011 world cup final to claim their second title. At that time Piyush’s age was 22 years and 3 month.
84. No compromise with batting average
Javed Miandad and Herbert Sutcliffe are only two batsmen whose batting average never dropped below 50.00 in their entire career. Herbert Sutcliffe played 54 tests for England and ended career with 60.73 average whereas Javed Miandad represented Pakistan in 124 matches and ended career at 52.57 average.
83. Only Indian legend not to play world cup
VVS Laxman is the only Indian cricketer who played 100 tests but never appeared in a world cup match.
82. Career ended with wicket joy
Glen McGrath ended his ODI and Test cricket career by taking wickets on the very last ball that he bowled in international career.
81. Australia won all 3 formats’ first ever matches
The first official international cricket matches of all three formats test, ODI and Twenty20 were played between Australia and England. And interestingly Australia won all those 3 matches.
