Modern day great Lionel Messi has finally got international trophy in his bag as Argentina have beaten Brazil in the final of Copa America 2021 championship on Saturday at Rio de Janeiro. Angel Di Maria was the hero of the final for Argentina side as he scored only goal of the final in the 21st minute of the game to give edge over Selecao.

Last time Argentina won Copa America in 1993. So it’s been 28 year since Argentina didn’t lift the cup though team succeed to reach final on four occasions but failed to lift the cup. Messi lead Argentina reached to final of 2015 and 2016 editions of Copa America but lost it to Chile on both the occasions in penalties.

Lionel Messi guided his team to 2014 world cup final as well but couldn’t win it too. So he faced lots of criticism over not winning any major tournament with national team. He’s won many trophies for Barcelona but this is the first occasion of celebration with Argentina.

Ten number jerseys from both sides Argentina (Messi-10) and Brazil (Neymar-10) hugged each other after the final as it was quite emotional moment. Neymar played with Messi for many years at Barcelona and he knew how much important this was for Messi.
