Maria Sharapova reaches to Mexican Open 2015 Semi-final at Acapulco

Number 1 seed Maria has qualified for the semifinal of Abierto Mexicano TELCEL in Acapulco at Mexico. Russian tennis star Sharapova has beaten Slovakia’s Magdalena Rybarikova by 6-1, 4-6 and 6-2 to make it through in her debuting Mexican Open semi-final to be played on Friday.

Maria Sharapova took 2 hours and 13 minutes to beat Rybarikova. Sharapova won first set comprehensively by 6-1 but she failed to win second one as Slovakia’s played good tennis in that set. World number two didn’t loss her confidence and made strong comeback in the third set to win the quarterfinal.

Sharapova has been facing health issues from past few days especially stomach virus, hence she didn’t come to press conference but make a statement after qualifying through semis.

She said, “Unfortunately I’ve had a stomach virus for the past couple of days and during tonight’s match it got a lot worse. I could not make it to press tonight as I am trying to do everything to recover for tomorrow and hoping that I will be out on the court.”

Maria will now face number 3 seed Caroline Garcia in the Mexico Open 2015 semifinal.
