Miguel Herrera is having Copa America, Gold cup squads headache

Miguel Herrera accepts that his head is spinning as he has to pick Mexico squads for upcoming 2015 Copa America and Gold Cup tournaments. Mexico football team is participating in two major football competitions and it is going to be vital for Herrera to select which player when for which event.

Miguel Herrera head is spinning over Mexico squads selection of 2015 copa america and gold cup.

Herrera said, “My head is spinning a bit because, unlike the CONMEBOL teams, we have two different tournaments to play. We have the CONMEBOL and the CONCACAF to play. As such, we have a lot of players in mind, it’s about deciding which play in which.”

Though Miguel Herrera has to select players for both events he says that he’ll pick best teams for both the tournaments. He said, “But we will be putting out strong teams. I intend to finish the Copa America and from there we will integrate with the team selected for the Gold Cup.”

Mexico will have to play 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup to qualify for FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017. So Miguel mentions that he’ll plan the things with Hector Gonzalez who is technical director of team.

Miguel added, “We have to play the Gold Cup in order to qualify for the Confederations Cup. We need to work out with [Mexico technical director] Hector Gonzalez how we are going to plan things. We will have to see what our results are like as we go along.”

The coach is having trust in the side and believes that Mexico can reach to the final of 2015 Copa America. Herrera also mentions that Brazil and Argentina will be the strong teams in the competition to defeat.

“We can get to the final of the Copa America, Mexico has been in a final before and I believe we can do it. We know that Brazil is a very strong rival and that’s even before talking about an Argentina who will have [Lionel] Messi on the pitch,” he said.

Herrera also believes that Copa America is going to be interesting as all the participating teams are good and strong. Chile is hosting the tournament hence they will be having home advantage whereas Colombia and Uruguay are also in the race to win 44th Copa America.

“Chile will have home advantage, Colombia had a great World Cup which has ensured their coach has stayed on. Uruguay also has the advantage of having the same manager, as do we. I think it will be a spectacular edition,” he added.

Copa America 2015 is starting from 11 June whereas CONCACAF Gold Cup 2015 will be beginning from 7 July.
