2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup could see 32-team tournament

FIFA president Gianni Infantino is looking forward to expand the women’s world cup and he is keen to increase the number of team in next championship in 2023. After determining the success of France 2019, Fifa boss lauds for increase women’s world cup teams from 24 to 32 and double the prize money of championship.

“I want to expand the tournament to 32 teams. We will have to act quickly to decide if we are to increase it for 2023, if we do, we should reopen the bidding process to allow everyone to have a chance or maybe co-host. Nothing is impossible,” Infantino said.

That means we can see 32 teams competing in women’s FIFA World Cup 2023 whose host yet to be decided. And yes, football’s biggest governing council is pleased to welcome co-host countries for the tournament. Infantino is also looking to start a women’s club world cup just like FIFA club world cup for men’s.

“I would like to see a Club World Cup for women starting as soon as possible next year or the year after.

We need a Club World Cup which can be played every even year to expose clubs from all over the world, to make clubs invest even more in women’s football to really shine in a world stage,” Gianni added.

The prize money for 2023 women’s world cup is expected to be $60 Million.
