ICC announce t20 world cup 2020 fixtures for men’s, women’s championship

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have released the full fixtures and schedule of 2020 t20 world cup championship for men’s and women’s to be hosted by Australia. It will be first occasion when women’s and men’s championships to take place separately in the same year and in the same country.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020

Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 is scheduled to play from 21 February to 8 March. Four-time women’s t20 wc winner and title defending champion team Australia will be taking on India in the opening match of women’s championship on February 21st at Spotless Stadium in Sydney. Apart from India, hosts Australia to play New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Qualifier-1 teams in the group-A women’s fixtures.

Last women’s t20 world cup runners-up England are placed in Group-B along with 2016 champions West Indies, South Africa, Pakistan and Qualifier-2 teams. A total of 23 matches will be played throughout the women’s t20 world cup championship 2020.

Sydney Cricket Stadium (SCG) to host both semi-final matches on 5th March meanwhile Melbourne Cricket Stadium (MCG) is chosen to host women’s final match on 8th March.

ICC men’s t20 world cup 2020

The men’s event is scheduled to commence from 18th October to 15th November across 8 venues in Australia. Sri Lanka men’s cricket team to play opening match of tournament against qualifier team on October 18 at Simonds Stadium in South Geelong. The group stage of men’s t20 wc 2020 to conclude on 23rd October and then super 12s to take place.

Hosts Australia to take on top ranked team Pakistan in the opening match of super-12 stage at SCG in Sydney. On the same day, 2007 t20 world cup winner, India to meet South Africa at Perth Stadium. A total of 33 matches will be played in men’s t20 world cup cricket 2020 event. It is the first occasion when India and Pakistan are placed in separate groups.

Group B: Bangladesh, Qualifier B1, Qualifier B2, Qualifier B3

Semi-final matches are due to take place on 11 and 12 November in Sydney and Adelaide respectively. MCG to host final match of men’s ICC t20 world cup 2020 on November 15.
