England Squad for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 announced

England football association have revealed the senior women’s squad for upcoming FIFA World Cup in France. Steph Houghton to lead Lionesses in FIFAWWC19. It was an amazing and unique way from England to announce squad as each member’s name from 23 women roster, was unveiled by a celebrity.

From prince to film stars, former football sensations to popstars, all the top celebrities from UK region took part to announce the name of players. Prince William, Greg James, Dan Walker, Emma Watson, Nicole Holliday, James Corden, Alex Scott, Jamal Edwards, Anne-Marie, Olly Murs, Monki, Ellie Goulding, David Beckham, Jordan Pickford, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Nick Bright, Rachel Yankey, Raheem Sterling, Ian Wright, Chelcee Grimes, Kelly Smith, Alan Shearer and Clara Amfo were the notable people in the list who declared the England women’s roster for world cup 2019.

England national women team head coach Phil Neville highlighted the qualities of players in the roster and why top celebrities were chosen to disclose world cup team names.

“We wanted each player to have a special moment when their name was revealed, knowing they are going to a World Cup, as I never did as a player. It is the biggest thing in their lives and something they’ve dreamed about. We have to make these players visible, we want everybody around the world to buy in to what will be the biggest Women’s World Cup off all time,” Neville said.

“We are the third ranked team in the world and there is a lot of expectation but our performances have been really good and there is more to come from these players,” he added.

England Women’s are placed in Group-D along with Scotland, Japan and Argentina. Tournament to kick off on 7th June and Lionesses to play their first game on June 9 against Scotland.
