Steph Catley shares her dreams on FIFA Women’s World Cup

Australian women’s footballer Steph Catley has shared dreams on FIFA World Cup and she mentioned that why she started to play football. In a recent interview on FIFA.com Catley said that she watched Australia women’s to play 2007 and 2011 world cups and got inspired to represent country in the prestigious tournament.

Steph Catley said, When the team walked out for the first game and seeing someone like (Australia midfielder) Caitlin Foord there – who I had played alongside – it made me realise that I could be there, that I could have been there, and how hard I would have to work.

“I could imagine myself there and wanted it. I always trained pretty hard, but I then had that extra thing in my head that it was my goal.”

This year Australia is place in group D of FIFA Women’s World Cup in which they’ll face US, Nigeria and Sweden. Matildas to play their opening game of tournament against United States on 8 June. Catley believes that if Australia plays with unity and according potential, team can do better than previous competitions.

“We have come a long way as a team. Women’s football in Australia is getting a lot stronger. We have so many people competing for spots, which we haven’t really had before. Come the World Cup I think we will be ready to go,” she added.
