South Africa won Sir Vivian Richards Series 2014-15 by 2-0

South Africa cricket team has won Sir Vivian Richards Trophy 2014-15 on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. In the final test South Africa defeated West Indies by 8 wickets on Day-5 to clinch the series by 2-0. Proteas team won first test match comprehensively by an inning and 220 runs. The second test match of series was ended at draw.

South Africa won by 8 wickets at Cape Town against West Indies to clinch Sri vivian Richards Trophy 2014-15.

Ab De Villiers was declared man of the match for his brilliant innings of 148 in the first inning of Cape Town test. Hashim Amla was awarded player of the series trophy as he batted awesomely throughout the series.

On day-5 of third test match SA needed 115 runs to win the test with 9 wickets remaining. Opener Dean Elgar and Faf Du Plessis built partnership but Du Plessis couldn’t add more than 14 runs in African innings. SA lost him on 52 runs.

After this Hashim Amla joined Elgar and both batsmen took team towards winning end. Elgar hit fifty and returned not out on 60. South Africa player Alviro Petersen announced retirement from international cricket at the age of 34. Petersen got out on the duck in his last international inning.

Alviro Petersen said, “I feel that at 34, it is time for me to retire from international cricket and to move on with my career. I intend playing County and Franchise cricket for the next three years and also concentrating on my Foundation and my cricket school.”

“It has been an honour to represent my country and to be part of a South African test team that is ranked No 1 in the world,” he added.

West Indies and South Africa will now play T20Is as per the schedule. The first twenty20 of three t20 match series will be played on 9 January 2015 at Cape Town.
