Williamson 242*, Watling ton set 390 target for SL in Wellington

Kiwi batsmen Kane Williamson and BJ Watling centuries put Sri Lanka under pressure on day-4 of Wellington test. Williamson scored double hundred to surpass New Zealand over 500 score in the second innings of 2nd test match.  NZ won first test match of 2014-15 Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand and this is the final match of test series. SL have to win this game to draw the series.

It seems like Sri Lankan team won’t be able to win this game. As per the latest update of match New Zealand declared their 2nd innings on 524 runs with a loss of 5 wickets. Hence NZ takes a lead of 389 runs. Now Sri Lanka will have to chase around 390 runs to win Wellington test which is not going to be easy for them, especially in the Basin Reserve conditions on Day-5.

Kane Williamson and BJ Watling returned not out to pavilion and Kiwi team didn’t loss single wicket on day-4 of match. Both batsmen started from day-3 score 253/5 where Williamson was on 80 and Watling was batting on 48. Williamson scored 242 and Watling made 142 runs in this final New Zealand inning of Wellington test.  Let’s have a look at the batting statistics of these two players in the final test match.

Sri Lanka’s first inning hero and double hundred scorer Kumar Sangakkara will have to bat well to draw the game for Lankai team. Sri Lanka was 45 after the loss of one wicket at the stumps of day-4. Karunaratne made 17 before getting out. Sri Lanka need another 345 runs with 9 wickets in hand on day-5.
