Azhar Ali to Captain Pakistan in One-Day Internationals

Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Azhar Ali as the new ODI Captain after Misbah-Ul-Haq’s One-Day International retirement after world cup. PCB Chief announced the name of Azhar Ali as Pakistani skipper in upcoming series.

PCB Chief Shahryar Khan confirmed Azhar’s appointment by saying, “Azhar has proved he can be captain and [has shown his mettle in] batting. In view of his character, leadership and team spirit, the decision has been made to make Azhar new ODI captain.

Sarfaraz will be the vice-captain of Test and T20s as well. He is full of spirit and has a fighting character.”

Now Pakistan has got three Captains for 3 different cricket formats as Misbah Ul Haq to Captain Test team, Azhar Ali to lead in ODIs whereas Shahid Afridi will be captaining Pakistani Twenty20 team. Azhar Ali’s first test will be done in Bangladesh in April-May month when PAK to tour Bangladesh for 3 ODIs with following 2 tests and one T20 match.
