FC Barcelona legend Luis Suarez has joined Atletico Madrid after playing six seasons for Barca. Atletico will be paying $7 million to Barcelona for acquiring the striker. It was highly speculated that Uruguayan forward will join Italian club Juventus as the team is looking for top class striker but due to lot of complications in joining Juve, Suarez moved to Atleti.

“FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Luis Suarez. The Madrid club will pay FC Barcelona 6 million euros in variables. FC Barcelona would like to publicly express their gratitude to Luis Suarez for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future,” FCB announced in a statement.

Luis Suarez had spent great time with the Catalan club as he was part of the squad of 13 titles winning Barcelona team. This includes 4 La Liga, 1 Champions League, 4 Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cup, Clubs World Cup and European Super Cup each.

33-year old Suarez is Barcelona’s 3rd highest goalscorer of all time. He played 283 matches for the Spanish club in which he scored 198 goals and 109 assists.
