RR lost first wicket in the third over when debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed for just 6 runs. After the Steve Smith and Sanju Samson took responsibility and go after Super Kings bowlers. Both batsmen added 121 runs for the second wicket partnership. Sanju was batting at more than 225+ strike rate.

Samson made 74 runs in 32 balls before getting out to Ngidi. He smashed 9 sixes and one four in his match winning innings. He was named man of the match as well later. Skipper Smith batted till the 19th over and he scored 69 runs in 47 balls. Last over was match defining for Royals as Jofra Archer smacked 4 sixes in that over to lead team’s total past 200.

Rajasthan Royals put 216 runs on the scoreboard in 20 overs. The target was never easy in t20 cricket format but the pitch was so good and boundaries were not as big as like Dubai and Abu Dhabi grounds. CSK lost opener Shane Watson in the 7th over when team’s score was 56.

South African Faf Du Plessis was sensational for Super Kings as he scored 72 runs in 37 balls and kept the side in the run chase. But unfortunately he couldn’t take team through and didn’t get proper support as wickets were falling at regular intervals.

MS Dhoni hit 3 sixes in the last over but it didn’t help the side as 36 runs were required in 4 balls. With this, CSK lost by 16 runs and Rajasthan Royals start IPL 2020 campaign with a victory.
