BCCI confirms the shifting of T20 World Cup 2021 to UAE

Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that Indian board has initiated the process of shifting this year’s twenty20 world cup to UAE amid Coronavirus situation in India. BCCI was about to host the event in October-November but COVID-19 has hit country and it wouldn’t be possible to host the championship.

“We have officially intimated the ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The details are being chalked out,” Ganguly told PTI.

“We will inform ICC today that we are shifting the T20 World Cup to UAE.

The dates of the tournament, the ICC needs to decide,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told ANI.

Sharjah, Dubai, ABU Dhabi and Muscat are the likely venues to stage 2021 t20 world cup having 16 countries in the event. It is reported that first round of tournament will be held in Oman meanwhile second stage to kick off in UAE. Vivo IPL 2021 remaining matches are also scheduled to play in United Arab Emirates in September-October.

It is also speculated that final of Indian Premier League 2021 will be played on 15 October as we can see World t20 to begin on 17th.
